Found this on tinternet just searching around. Ties in rather nicely with what I'm looking at methinks. I worked into an idea today a bit more. I'm pleased with the result, it looks good. It wasn't what I expected, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

So I was really trying to find a way to link my concept with my process. Surely they should be connected in some way. My ideas behind this brief were to do with renewable energy: oil and water and their uses, solar power (relating to light) etc. I laid them out in a sort of globe shape but the circular idea needed more time and development. I thought more about regions, how different continents play a different role with regards to energy use, environmentalism, economic development etc, So I sort of did the world map but with different regions colour co-ordinates to demonstrate wealth, advances in technology and economy. I wish I had more time, this brief has really grown on me, although that is perhaps because I have developed this concept more in my head now and can think of new ways to develop existing ideas. I am going to play with editing a different layout further this weekend.

Messing around with oil, water and light this week. I say messing around...clearly at 11am on Thursday when a deadline is half an hour away and everyone is running round like mad men it's perhaps not 'messing around'. Here are a few examples of what I did.

I'm bored of digital again. Today I developed using oil in my darkroom cave. Weird results. Will scan and post soon. Watch this space. Or not, it's up to you.

So there you have it, an incredibly simplified version of my interpretation of the 'Life' brief given to us to kick off the graphics pathway, I'm much more comfortable shooting in film and developed my negatives myself. I'm so excited to get back and see everyone and what everybody else has been up to. Thank you and goodnight.
Guess

The required image including text itself. The cliche of an ambiguous yet somehow profound single word makes me cringe, I apologise. In some respects it does reflect an idea I was throwing around earlier in my project, which was that of guessing people's thoughts in response to their circumstances, company, clothing etc. (pure coincidence that these all begin with C)
A man stands on an escalator going in an upwards direction. The escalator on the left is separated from that on the right by a flight of stairs. No other figures are present, even the man is hard to make out against the darkness. The artificial lights illuminate the space. Everything is serene.

Two women sit at a table in a cafe within a market. One has her back to us, the other looks happy. Both have cups in front of them. They appear deep in conversation. A few people linger in the background, but the two women are the focus of our attention.

Hundreds of people walk in all directions across a cobbled street. The natural beauty of a tree lined street argues with the urban buildings and the busk of city life. The two figures in the foreground are walking away and so their faces are hidden. They are off centre. The male carries a 'Selfridges' bag whilst the female, perhaps his partner walks beside him.

A middle aged, balding man stands leaning against the balcony overlooking the market place. Below the tables and chairs of a cafe can be seen. The man stands on the right plane of the image having a conversation on his mobile phone. He appears somewhat despondent and detached, neither fully committing to the conversation, nor his physical surroundings.

In the centre of a busy market sit two young women. Stalls full of goods, from records to soap lead the eye down to the back of the market place. One woman sits looking at the other, her face hidden by long waving hair. The other wears a hat and stares intently at the other. She seems content.

Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I love blogging. I have, in fact, been working quite hard on this brief and after a few trips to London and a fair amount of stalking people I've come up with some ideas. I will post pictures at the weekend along with some thoughts. Just wanted y'all to know I hadn't just gone into hibernation for a couple of weeks, tempting though it was. Looking at some of the work that's gone up, it looks awesome! I canny flipping wait to get back to Epsom!
